25  “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26  I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

John 17:25-26

Personally, this prayer of Jesus in John 17:20-26 may be one of the most encouraging passages in all of Scripture. To know that Jesus Himself has prayed that prayer for me and for all who believe in Him is reassuring beyond words.

Each and every day, I may stumble. But my reassurance lies in the power of God’s love over my sin. The power of God’s love is in me through faith and faith alone, because Christ Himself is in me through faith and faith alone.

I still vividly remember that worship conference I attended where Louis Giglio spoke from God’s word, “Christ in you!” The reality of that truth sunk in deep, and whatever guilt and shame I carried in my heart because of sin was flushed out by Christ Himself through my tears.

Today, I receive Jesus’s prayer. And I know that even now, Jesus is interceding on my behalf.

I have no other hope. I cannot even hope in myself. My hope is Christ and Christ alone.

Father, You are the Author of my salvation, the Redeemer of my soul. You are my only Hope. Thank You for this powerful reassurance and encouragement today. Continue to transform my heart with the knowledge of Your presence in my heart, so that my joy may also be complete as Yours is complete. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
