Thankful
4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Revelation 5:4-5
This scroll is in the right hand of God. John weeps because there is the sense that the content of the scroll cannot be fulfilled unless it is revealed. There is also the sense that all of it will be fulfilled in Christ and revealed in Him, as well. Without Jesus, God’s great plan of salvation for the world would not come to fruition, nor would that plan be made known to us.
And there may still be a great mystery about how God’s plan will unfold and what it may entail for us. But there is also a certainty about that plan that ought to fill us with purpose, confidence, boldness, and courage, and that certainty is Christ.
All we need to do is to keep our eyes fixed on Him, to cling to Him, to completely trust in Him, then we can live our lives with hope, peace, and joy, no matter what may come.
Christ is my hope, and Christ is my hope alone. Words cannot express how thankful I am for the salvation that I have in Him. Before receiving Him as my Lord, there was only existing, as a worm might exist. But now I know that even a worm such as myself is deeply loved and filled with the power of Christ.
Father, I thank You for saving me in Christ Jesus. I thank You for calling me in Christ Jesus. I thank You for revealing Your plan for my life in Christ Jesus. In His holy name I pray. Amen.
